Academic .NET Radio Is On The Air
Matthew Cassell, at 15 years old, is the youngest member of my user group here in Kitchener. He's also one of the most active. He's recently put together a podcast that will focus on .NET development as it relates to the academic space. High school in particular. Don't let the audience demographic fool you. Matt has some great stuff already in the can, as it were, including an interview with Java/.NET congnoscente Ted Neward and Mono project caballero César López Natarén. You can download ......

He's Starting WHAT Kind of Business?!?
I have now, officially, heard everything. DENVER, Colorado (AP) -- Former FEMA Director Michael Brown, heavily criticized for his agency's slow response to Hurricane Katrina, is starting a disaster preparedness consulting firm to help clients avoid the sort of errors that cost him his job. ... Brown said companies already have expressed interested in his consulting business, Michael D. Brown LLC. He plans to run it from the Boulder area, where he lived before joining the Bush administration in 2001. ......

Here's the back-story from Terry Kelly's website: On November 11, 1999 Terry Kelly was in a Shoppers Drug Mart store in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. At 10:55 AM an announcement came over the store’s PA asking customers who would still be on the premises at 11:00 AM to give two minutes of silence in respect to the veterans who have sacrificed so much for us. Terry was impressed with the store’s leadership role in adopting the Legion’s ......

Rootkits and Sony and Bears Oh My!
Mark Russinovich of Sysinternals fame was testing the latest iteration of his RootKitRevealer when to his surprise he found one on his machine. The ensuing saga will leave you dumbfounded. The company that developed the Digital Rights Management “software” - which takes considerable liberty with the term to be sure - for Sony, First 4 Internet, responded to Mark's analysis with a reply that is nothing short of ludicrous. What lunacy possessed them to match wits with the king of Windows ......
