Feeling the Love...
N. Alex Rupp - a Java cognoscenti and blogger of some note - had these observations to make after attending our UG Leader summit at TechEd 2004 “I must admit, it was a little odd being a Java guy walking into a room full of .NET User Group Leaders from all around the country. The abundance of caffeine and general rowdiness of the 75 member crowd helped ease tensions somewhat, and while I got my bearings I took careful note of the group, its dynamic and the subject matter they were covering. ......

Getting the Hookup with Vendors
Code Diva and Marketing Gal Sara Faatz, just gave a facinating presentation on the best way to get your user group plugged into the vendor community. I think there are three main take-a-ways from this talk. Look professional. Having a laid back meeting and group structure is great, but your public face to the vendor community should be as professional as possible. It doesn't take much. An up to date web site is a good start. Give them some Ammo. The Developer Marketing people within the vendors need ......

INETA User Group Leader Summit
We're half way through an amazing day here in San Diego. We've brought almost a hundred user group leaders together here at TechEd for a full day of sharing and training on running a successful user group. Bill Evjen started us off with a look at where we've been over the last couple of years. Following that we had a short report from the heads of each of our committees talking about what's going on with them. Lot's of great stuff happening with the speakers' bureau, in the academic space and with ......

Suicide by Conference
Ok so I just got back 2 hours ago from the Stryker Global IT Conference in Mahwah NJ. I have to be on a plane to San Diego in 10 hours and I haven't packed or anything yet. I'm an hour from the airport so that leaves 9 hours. You're supposed to be at the airport 2 hours before the flight so that leaves 7 hours. It's going to take me a couple hours to pack so that leaves 5 hours. I'll need an hour in the morning to wake up enough to actually drive without causing any accidents so that leaves 4 hours ......

Global IT Conference in Mahwah NJ
Just wrapping up a 4-day Global IT conference here at the Stryker Orthopaedics manufacturing facility. The plant itself is truly amazing. It sits on 48 acres and is 460,000 sq. ft. They manufacture artificial hips and knees here using titanium, cobalt chrome, and stainless steel. It is amazing to see what happens from the forge at one end where they feed in the cobalt-chrome right through to the sterile clean-room packaging department. We had 39 people from 16 divisions from 10 countries around the ......

The greatest thing since sliced bread.

Ok, I really, really want to thank John Lam and Keith Pleas for reccommending X1to me.  It is the most kickass utility I have ever seen.  I've only been using it for 2 days and it's already saving me time left and right.  You absolutely must check this thing out!

Oh man am I going to get mail...
Toronto Star: "The Internet is fucked. And the people quickest to realize this are suicidal." Count me in! Just got off the phone with Hawking who says the only way to get widespread adoption of XML-RPC would be to take it to the people who dog my cats and in places where it's cloudy and damp. (Microsoft says "sunny and warm" and my reply to that is eat shit and fuck that.) I couldn't agree more with Hawking and added the moment we get the foo into effect then there is a chance to do what needs, ......
