I think the article oversimplifies, and doesn't address core issues. One of the major limitations of QTP is it's Object Repository, which is binary, and locked when one person has it open. If you're dealing with a dynamic environment, such as web applications, and you have multiple script development, it's almost impossible to support concurrent development with a shared repository.

What does this mean? It means that each test needs to have it's own Object Repository, so a change to the site has to be updated in each repository, and test, that uses said changed item. This is a maintenance nightmare. am Ravi working as test engg in one of the MNC company Bangalore, currently i am using QTP tool.
The main diference b/w qtp & WR is as follows
1. In WR xml checkpoints are not avaiable but it is in QTP
2. QTP supports for web based application where as WR doesn't.
3. In QTP data table will be present in same window but not same as in WR.
As still there are some many differneces b/w those 2 tools.

every body, first of all both the tools are functionality testing tools only both are from mercury, but the features are included or developed in qtp are it supports .net applications and xml checkpoints and winrunner uses Test Script language mostly like c language but here in qtp it uses only the Vbscript. 8/13/2007 11:17 AM | vasu
