Hello World
Good Bye San Diego I am packing to leave sunny (yes-at last) Southern California. As I pack, I remember that I had an action item from the Women In Technlogoy Luncheon. At the end of the event I met Esther Schindler, Site Editor from Ziff Davis Media and she echoed the thoughts of the panelists in that a great way to get known in the industry is to write articles. So ladies and gentleman, if you're interested in submitting , please send Esther articles: esther@bitranch.com Wrap-up I spent yesterday ......
It's not my story, but one that both Kimberly and Steve told me on seperate occasions. Last year, Kim was flying to TechEd Europe on a non-direct flight to Barcelona. She relates that the passenger next to her started to chit chat before the flight took off and they both learned they were going to Barcelona. Then the discovered they were both going to TechEd to speak. That's when they finally introduced each other and Steve learned that he was sitting next to the top rated speaker from TechEd 2003 ......
I can't believe it is almost over. 8 hours left. Ugh. It's been such a great show. We began planning it in Dallas the day TechEd 2003. I need sleep (as does everyone else). I think I may have a little bit of the “Show Is Over” Blues. And, it's not just TechEd. It's been a wonderful year. When I left Dallas last year, I was finishing the plans for my wedding . It's been fun to see everyone at TechEd that I only see once a year because they all remind me that I am a newlywed. This was followed ......
Kimberly has gone on to beat Steve Riley as of Thursday at 6:00 PM. Now I know this seems crazy, but you will have to read my blog tomorrow for the story behind the competition. Michael Earls, Greg Huber, Rob Caron, Jason Fredrickson, and Kate Gregory have all made my day! I just went through the blog feed and I couldn't be any happier reading about all that is happening in the cabanas. If you scroll through my blog you can read about the vision we've had for the cabana sessions all along. It's a little like Field of Dreams, “Build it, and they will come.” Thanks for all the great comments about the cabana areas. I know there have been some frustrations regarding ......

Yes. Today we will be distributing requests for evals to be submitted. Information on how to fill out an eval will be handed out during the second timeslot, as well as set in the CommNet area. The Mobile Devices team has secured SmartPhones for a drawing for those who submit evals. Fortunately the eval counts are going up. It's a good thing, the statistical data will be stronger for us to evaluate where we hit the mark. As of Thursday morning, this is who is hot: Top 10 Sessions - Event Running Rank ......

I ran into Kimberly L. Tripp this morning and she told me that she had someone tell her how much they had gotten from her presentation. Kimberly asked if they had posted their evaluation on CommNet, and they responded saying they hadn't and questioned if they had to log in. Yes. You have to log in to CommNet to fill out an eval. And, please do so. We do take the evals very seriously. It helps us decide which sessions will go on to the worldwide TechEds. It helps us train the speakers. And most importantly, ......

Looks like we may even schedule a breakout session on Thursday at lunch. I had to leave early to get back and make some session updates, but Kevin and Drew said they may just do a session! I will update CommNet and the housekeeping monitors as soon as they ......
TechEd really heats up today. I've watched the cabanas turn from an idea based on attendee feedback from last year to a reality in the Sails Pavilion yesterday. The various Microsoft teams have renamed the groupings of the cabanas and at 10:00 PM the “theme” song for their names got played (if you are there at 7:00 AM today you will also hear the theme songs). MBS/BPR (Cabanas 1-3) are “Margaritaville.” DEV/ARC/MBL (Cabanas 4-7) are “Kokomo” DAT/MSG/EBZ (Cabanas ......

My pet peeve? Red markers used on white boards during training. So, this morning when I got to the Sails Pavilion at the convention center to check out the cabanas, low and behold every white board had a note for me in red marker. The crew have removed the red markers (and the orange and the yellow). Let the games begin.... ......

If you go to: http://groups.msn.com/TechE... you can see how the lounges are shaping up. Please note that all the chairs are not in the room yet. The “Rumble in the Jungle” Party will be held on Wednesday, May 26 at the San Diego Zoo.
To get tickets, visit the Microsoft Operations Manager station #27 in the Product Pavilion or the NetIQ XMP Booth #700. Both locations are in the Expo Hall in Hall D at the San Diego Convention Center.
Just got in and it sure is nice to be back “home“ in sunny Southern California. The convention center is getting dressed up for TechEd and the gas lamp quarter has signs about MOM all over. Ali Parker should be happy to see this. I want so badly to leak clues about her party (the Management Party), but she's begged me not to tell. So, I am just being quiet. <g>
Wow. The response to “Meet the Technologist” sessions has been great. So great that we needed to create some new breakout sessions. Luckily we have a few rooms to move them into, and great speakers who have helped out. These changes will be highlighted at the San Diego Convention Center on the housekeeping monitors and on a “changes“ page on CommNet. Until then, new sessions include: DATC01 Microsoft Business Intelligence for the Relational Expert Mon. May 24, 10:45AM Room ......

THEY’RE BACK! You’re in luck! If you’re attending Tech•Ed 2004, you’ll be pleased to know the top speakers from last year will be back in front of you this year. Matt Nunn, the Data Management Track Owner, signed Kimberly Tripp up to speak again this year, and she’s delivering a mere 6 sessions and a PreCon! Another show favorite making a return to the Tech•Ed stage is Steve Riley. He’ll be making 8 appearances over the course of the week and co-presenting ......
Tech•Ed 2004 is just 17 days away! I am really looking forward to this year’s event. There’s so many new things happening. I am going to spend the next few days highlighting speakers, tracks, sessions, cabanas, parties, as well as giving a little historical perspective to the event. This marks my sixth TechEd and I’ve just gone through all the historical data to see where we’ve been and where we are going. (I am the technical content owner for the event this year). One ......
