I am pretty sure there are reasons behind this but I still find it irksome. In order to listen to the music I have to deal with three! different volume controls.
1. Device Volume - Which I can control via the Keyboard
2. Application Volume - Which I can't control via the Keyboard
3. The actual speaker knob - Nope can't get that one via the Keyboard either. ;)
Anyone, does Vista fix this? I kinda doubt it.
What I would like to see is the ability to quickly toggle a beautiful (ie not a gray screen) volume control via the keyboard and then tab through the various volume sliders and/or tweak with the mouse. The screen would show all applications that have 'registered' for audio out (?) and let me control them from there. Maybe you could plug-in various sound effect algorhythems as well for super sweet auditorium sounding system beeps.
