I just read Kathy Sierra's latest post Why does engineering/math/science education in the US suck? and once again find myself fired up about teaching again. This fire was first lit when I read Paul Grahm's Hackers and Painters.
Since then I have been trying to figure out how I can share the things that I think are so important. Now that I am fired up again I find myself thinking "What is my next action?" For the longest time, I thought it was to go and get my Masters or PhD in Computer Science, however I no longer feel that way. This is because I believe that the curriculum is behind the times. I want something that is going to have me thinking not just about the past but what is next. That's going to teach me more than sorting routines and data structures. I want more.
The only thing I can come up with for now is to continue doing what I am doing and that is reading as much as I can and continuing to have a dialogue with the community.
Something else that I want to spread some google love to is the concept of a Masters in Fine Arts for Software.
