MSConfig & the Windows startup command

Ok I thought this was pretty strange this morning.

Every so often I comb through my windows startup programs to turn off, well, everything; and I came across one that I hadn't paid any attention to in the past.

The Microsoft Windows Operating System startup command.

Seems kinda strange, as part of windows starting up, why would it go off and start windows? Seems a little cyclic.

Turns out it's the windows sidebar. After reading so much on naming convention best practices by MS, I figured they would have been able to make that one a bit clearer. I'm still yet to find a good use for the sidebar; as anything that big with an "Always On Top" flag set is useless, and the only widget left on there now is an RSS reader which comes through my iGoogle page anyway. So I guess it comes out of the startup list like everything else.
