It was a great meeting at West Palm Beach, hosted again by Frank Bocchino and Joe Kelley at OpenClose.com.

We had standing room only as Joe Healy, our Microsoft Developer Evanegelist out of Tampa gave me a hard time about a slight miss spelling of Orcus ... I mean Orcas.

It was perfect timing because earlier that day the Orcas Beta 1 had been posted on MSDN. Joe gave an excellent run down on the new developer related features. Class extensions, LINQ and many others.

Actual release date is unknown but rumour has another beta early summer and possible release by the end of the year.

From the MVP conference in March, it was pretty clear that new features were not being considered and that a few people were starting to look ahead to the next version.

One rewarding thing for me was to see a number of new faces!

The location is very nice, right in the middle of Clematis street which is undergoing a revival. We had our meeting on Thursday night which is a big party night. They block off the street and have a bands playing. This particular night they had a mini-car show as well. Just across the street from the openclose office is "Roxy's". A nice bar with a big selection of beer on tap and a very good sound system.

Shervin Shakibi, our volunteer Microsoft Regional Director will be speaking in May on reporting services. Hope to see you there!
