Angel Arce - .NET Shipping Library for Web Developers - www.aarce.com

A little bit of a light turnout, the area is still in hurricane shock, many still don't have power and the stoplights are just now returning… Still almost 20 people showed up!!

A South Florida jewelry company wanted to automate the shipping aspects of their online business. Historically they have transcribed the orders from the web by hand into their shipping system. The site is www.purityrings.com

Both UPS and DHL provide online shipping documentation and automation.

Neither support web services but rather their own proprietary xml documents exchanged over a secure http connection.

Angel has written some classes to handle the guts of these processes.

The XML documents returned contain a base 64 encoded image that is the actual label which can printed by the customers application.

These controls will be available as part of DotNetNuke.

Has the ability to add package types, then request rates based on from and to zip codes.

The programming model is fairly simple.

He created a simple asp.net form (1.1) that allows entry of from and to zip codes, select a shipping rate and then displays the xml request and response documents in multiline text boxes.
