Dev Teach Vancouver Speakers and Sessions Announced!

The speakers and sessions for Dev Teach Vancouver 2009 have been announced! I’m going to be doing four Silverlight sessions myself, and honestly between myself and Justin Angel, I think the other tracts are going to be insanely jealous of the metrosexual vibes flowing from the Silverlight track. The sessions this year are fantastic, and while there are some introductory sessions there are also a tonne of deep dives and advanced topics! If you need another reason to go to DevTeach, check out the sessions ......

Windows Unleashed Event in Irvine California…or Wherever You Are

Next Saturday, February 28th, there’s a fantastic event happening in Irvine, California: Windows Unleashed! This is a deep dive into Windows 7, and covers a whole whack of topics that Daniel Egan covers in his blog post about the event. Even if you aren’t living in or planning on being in southern California next weekend, you should still check out the info on the event…because they’ll be streaming it live over the net! However, space is limited so if you want to get in on the action register ASAP! ......

Telus Going 3G/4G

Over lunch yesterday a colleague mentioned that Telus was setting up a 3G network, just in time for the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. In addition to the obvious benefit for Telus (why let Rogers get all the roaming fees for those international attendees using 3G phones), this is a HUGE win for consumers who now have another 3G network in Canada to compete with Rogers. I've been a long time Telus customer, and the only real gripe I have is that I can't have the freedom two switch phones like Rogers ......

It Shouldn’t Be This Hard To Edit A Movie

In my last blog post I embedded a movie that I had uploaded to SoapBox. The path that video, and myself, took to get to that point is EPIC. It all started with recording the video with my trusty Sony camcorder. I copied over the file to my Windows 7 machine…file format is MPG. The size was 118 MB, but SoapBox has a 100MB limit. Easiest way to alter that: Movie Maker. As I’m all about the Windows Live suite of tools, I opened up Movie Maker Beta. I was a huge fan of Movie Maker 2.6, and I hadn’t had ......

Microsoft Recite – Search Recordings Using Speech

Microsoft has released a kewl new technology preview called Recite. It’s a Windows Mobile application that allows you to easily record notes as well as search through those notes using speech. Check out this video I threw together showing how it works. Video: Recite Demo To get more information, check out the Recite home page here. You can also follow the Recite discussion on Twitter here. Valentine’s Day is Necessary

“Shower the people you love with love, show them the way that you feel.” - James Taylor Today is Valentine’s Day. It’s a day that card, chocolate, and flower shops have been preparing for for weeks. People will be giving gifts, sharing moments, taking significant others out to dinner, opening cards, baking cookies with their kids, etc. etc. Last week I’m sure schools had Valentine parties where kids decorated boxes that others would put Transformer or Barbie themed valentine’s into. And of course, ......
