House in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada...60 years old...820 sq feet.

House in Dallas, Texas, USA...1 year old...3500 sq feet

What's the difference? The one in Texas is $10k CHEAPER.

That's just nuts...

Looks like it's the perfect time for Canucks to invest in a winter home down South.

(BTW, note that _every_ piece of real estate is absurdly cheap in Texas!)

You are forgetting the rule of real estate: location, location, location. They don't build too many new mcmansions in the old sections of town, and those new mcmansions are very, very pricey. Whereas some mcmansion on some desolate piece of former scrub land 3 hours outside Dallas will be relatively cheap because the land is worth next to nothing.
