I finally upgraded my work system to Office 2007, which is fine. But the next step is to go to Vista, and it scares the crap out of me. I'm seeing so many issues that people are having with getting vs.net to run, sql 2005 issues, general wtf moments with the os, etc. My XP system is running pretty good right now, but I still think starting to work in the new OS is the ticket. So I'm going to try something different: go completely virtual for my development. A buddy of mine works at a place where they work that way: everything, including office, runs off of a VPC. That way, if their machine toasts, you aren't spending hours trying to get it up and running again. An argument could be made that you could easily just ghost the image and ensure all files are stored in removable media or an external HD, but in my case with moving to Vista I think it makes more sense: XP is a stable development environment; Vista, so far, is not. I'll let you know how it goes.
We saw the new 007 movie last night and I can't recommend it enough! Amazing movie...they totally captured all the goodness of the previous Bond movies and updated it to the 2006 timeframe flawlessly. And all that talk about how Daniel Craig was going to be a horrible bond...forget about it! He's actually surpassed Roger Moore as my favorite Bond-guy. Excellent casting choice. If you want to go see a thrill ride from start to finish, definately check it out!
Off to do my first of back-to-back workouts (today and tomorrow). I'm seeing aches and pains in my future, but also...............................................sorry, caught myself in a mirror and had to flex the pythons. :P
