Get Flock'ed

Wednesday, July 19, 2006 8:15 AM

While my solution rebuilds itself, I want to take a second and blog about a great free browser that I've been trying out called Flock.

Flock, so far, is a bloggers dream! It presents blog feeds way nicer than IE 7 does, with a really nice "front page" view showing the latest feeds. The layout is nice as well...very easy to quickly scan the posts and see more of them on the screen. Flock also comes with some Flickr hook-ins where you can apparantly do drag and drop through Flock and have the pics added to Flickr...or something like that...I haven't played with all the functionality yet, mainly the blogging piece.

Have a look for yourself at http://www.flock.com/

edit: Apparantly Flock doesn't like the HTML view for geekswithblogs, so I have to do html edits with IE7...Flock is still a beta product though, so you might find issues like this. Still very kewl for reading though.

I've been using this myself, and I like it a lot as well. The feed reader in it looks pretty good too, actually. I was going to switch to it (from bloglines) for a while, but I ran into an apparent Flock bug importing my bloglines opml. Someone there is supposed to be looking into it.

Have you tried hitting flock.com in IE7? 7/19/2006 12:43 PM | Lance Robinson

Yeah, I've loaded it in IE7...is there supposed to be something bad that happens or its not supposed to load it properly?

There seems to be a few bugs still in there...once they get it right, should be a kick ass product though.

Ironic that the tower add to the left as I read this item, is for Opera 9. 7/20/2006 4:43 AM | Boomer

Yeah I hate the tower ads. Could they be any larger? Ugh!

When I load flock.com in IE7 I get an unrecognized content-type and a binary file. I guess its just me! :) 7/20/2006 7:28 AM | Lance
