Promise Keeper's Recap

Saturday, March 11, 2006 6:12 PM

I had a great time over the last day and a half at the Promise Keeper's conference (way better of a time than playing my new game). What is Promise Keepers? 2000 Christian men coming together to hear and talk about how to be better husbands, better fathers, better friends, and better Christians.

The speakers were excellent (although Ted DiBiase was supposed to be part of the lineup, but had to back out at the last minute...he would have been awesome to see). Ron Estey, Lennett Anderson, Phil Cann, Vince D'Acchioli, and Colin McCartney...great linup of men with amazing life experiences and testimonies (Colin does a pretty good Tony Compolo impersonation).

Personally...I think I know what God wanted me to hear, but there was a crazy amount of information to digest. I bought the CD set of the discussions, so I'm going to take this week to re-listen to and digest the talks a bit more. I'm sure more will come out, but here's a summary:

- God does love us...individually...personally...and more than anything we could love

- When bad things happen, the wrong question is “Why?“...the right question is “What am I supposed to learn from this?“

- No excuses...we all have issues, we all have pasts...when we go through something, we go through it...meaning there's an end point...meaning eventually we'll stand on the mountain and look back at the valley we walked through and the things we learned.

Anyway, that's been my weekend so far...and its only Saturday night.

Very cool. I went to PK one time in Memphis, it was quite an experience. 3/13/2006 6:25 AM | solid
