I downloaded a 3 of 9 bar code font from this site (http://www.squaregear.net/fonts/free3of9.shtml) and began using it within my application...very exiciting stuff! Until I find myself with a bunch of generated bar codes that don't work.
It's not my scanner, because I can make a 3 of 9 bar code at this site (http://www.barcodesinc.com/generator/index.php), print it, and have my scanner read it no problem.
So then I'm thinking “It's gotta be the font itself”. I mean, outputting barcode text to Word, printing it, and scanning it is something I've done before to verify that the output truly is what I want. But to no avail with this font.
You'd think, here in 2005, that bar code fonts would just be part of the Office suite! I mean, seriously, how hard is it for them to create a RELIABLE font-set for something many people and developers require.
My rant is done...back to coding...
