LINQ

Saturday, November 05, 2005 3:40 PM

There is an awesome article about LINQ on Azam Sharp's blog today, http://geekswithblogs.net/AzamSharp/archive/2005/11/05/59201.aspx

The Microsoft Faculty Advisory team had a nice opportunity to hear about this from Anders Hejlsberg at our meeting in Redmond. Chanel 9 also has a nice interview with him as well where he talks about some of the exciting features of LINQ.  I am really excited about this new programming tool. I hope to now download it an see what I can do with it.  Once I get it running on my system perhaps I can introduce it to my students.

Dan, They just released the LINQ for the RTM. I just installed it with VB Express and it works fine. Now I just need to learn it for myself! 11/6/2005 7:50 PM | David Jacobus

Any idea how high school students can benefit from this? Is this too advanced is what I was thinking about.
Most high schools teach an introductory class and then an AP class following that.
I could see college students being exposed to this but not sure about high school unless you have the luxury of having more courses in your curriculum. 11/7/2005 4:36 AM | Brian Scarbeau

Good point Brian, where do we fit in? I am now thinking at the very least I may work it into the computer club curriculum. We'll see about regular classes down the road. I want to at least expose my students to it because it seems like an awesome tool. 11/7/2005 4:45 AM | Daniel Forhan

Dave,

I am glad you are also interested in experimenting with linq. I was considering testing it out using C#, but like you, may also look it using VB. 11/7/2005 4:54 AM | Daniel Forhan
