Expression toolset lineup changes

Monday, December 04, 2006 12:28 PM

Microsoft announced some changes in the Expression lineup of tools today.  The first huge announcement is that Expression Web is now shipping!

The second big announcement is the renaming iof Expression interactive Designer to Expression Blend.  Blend is a huge step forward in the world of WPF design tools, and is much more stable than any of the prior EID releases.  We at Infragistics have has the opportunity to play with some of the early builds and I must say that Blend is a huge improvement.  It also offers extensibility that EID never had which we are fully taking advantage of.  We have been working closely with Microsoft to ensure that our WPF controls are tightly integrated into Blend.  Shortly we will be posting some screens of the DataPresenter working on the Blend design surface.

Finally, Microsoft announced a new product in the Expression line called Expression Media, which is billed as a professional asset management tool, allowing you to manage and organize all of the your digital assets (photos, audio files, video files, etc).

The release of Vista signaled the start of a huge wave of new tools on the horizon, and the Expression line is a great part of that.  If you thought the last year was a wide ride, just wait....the next 2 years is going to be amazing.
