Tenacious D Live

Monday, December 04, 2006 2:10 AM

Friday a few of us went to see Tenacious D live at Madison Square Garden.  While I am not a huge fan, I do have their first album in a light rotation in my LaunchCast station, and the tickets were pretty cheap.  That said, I had no idea what to expect in a live concert from Jack Black and KG.  I must say that I was pleasantly surprised how good the concert was.  Part acoustic jam session, part rock concert, part rock theater, the concert started with JB and KG "waking up" on the couch in their living room seemingly surprised to see the huge crowd packed into MSG before them.  They launch into an acoustic set mixing songs from both the first and second albums.

Kyle then decides he wants to go electric, which results in both of them getting electrocuted, dying and being sent to Hell.  Once in Hell, they met the Son of God, who also happens to play one heck of a guitar, so they decide to form a band, but they need a rhythm section.  Thankfully JC knows of some dudes who can play....on bass is Charlie Chaplin and playing drums is Colonel Sanders.  Obviously more hilarity ensues.

All in all a pretty good, fun concert, and definitely one of the more unique concerts I have ever been to.

I saw D in STL a few years ago and I still make the claim that is was one of the best shows I have been to. I am a big D fan though 12/4/2006 11:32 AM | Jeff Julian
