Trying to register for a Microsoft e-Learning course.

Well, I have been trying to register for one of Microsoft's free e-Learning courses for SQL Server 2005 for the last 24 hours. But each time I try to access I get told I need to register and each time I try to register I get the following:

There was an error while registering you as a Learner. Please try after some time.

I have registered before for other similar courses without any problems, so “after some time” I come back, but still no luck. Darn it! I had set aside some time this weekend to go through this content as I am sitting one of the Beta certifications in a few weeks. I have been collection various online study resources here, but I cannot get into any of the e-Learning courses at this time. I might have to go and blow off some steam on the Xbox for “some time“ :)

[Updated 14 Dec 2005] I was trying to get access to some MCP resources yesterday and it was giving me the same error about being unable to register me as an eLearner. I went into the “Manage Your Profile” link from the MCP site, updated my details there and once that was done I was able to get in to both the MCP site and the eLearning site.

Still no response from MS  :(   Not that it matters now.

I like the xbox for "some time" solution. Because "some time" is reasonably open ;)

I'm having the same problem. I recently passed a certification test and wanted to check to see if it had been applied to my transcript yet, but I can't access the MCP site. I called Microsoft, but all they could tell me was they'd get back to me. That was 4 days ago. Did you ever get a resolution?

No - still waiting. My issue was with logging onto the eLearning site, but it may be related. I could not afford to keep waiting so I set up a new passport and used that to access the site. You probably cannot do the same with the MCP site if your MCP ID is already associated with your current passport.

I have recieved an email every couple of weeks saying that they are still looking into my issue, but no resolution yet.

I have the same problem either! Recently i passed 70-294 and was willing to see my M$ transcript, but getting an error, "There was an error while registering you as a Learner. Please try after some time." is there anything to worry about?

I actually got an email from MS saying that the problem was now resolved.

However I have stumbled across a work around, so the it was not longer an issue for me.

What I had found was the each time I tried to access an eLearning course, (or the MCP site) I would get prompted to update my profile and after that I would get the error.

I fiddled around and got into my profile directly and updated the questionnaire and once I had done that I was able to get straight on the eLearning site and the MCP site.

I don't know if this was a coincidence and that MS had done something else at there end too. But that was what worked for me.
