SSIS Import/Export Wizard: "Unexpected Unrecoverable Error"

Problem: For the last few months I have been running the SSIS Import/Export Wizard and it has been throwing up an "Unexpected Unrecoverable Error". The three buttons – Abort, Retry and Ignore – all cause the wizard to close. I am running SQL Management Studio 2008 R2 on my Windows 7 x86 computer.
