Talking to someone at our user group this evening, I got the bad news that the Acropolis project will see no more CTP releases. It seems that the project is now in the hands of the Patterns & Practices group. From the Acropolis website : "We are very excited to be entering the next phase of the project where we will begin to roll many of the Acropolis concepts into future versions of the .NET Framework for the desktop and Silverlight. Unfortunately, while we figure out exactly how to go about...
Get Ready New England Geeks! March 31 - April 1 2007 Via Chris Bowen's Blog: http://blogs.msdn.com/cbowe... Hmmm, something's *really* fishy about Code Camp happening on April Fool's Day, I'm very very afraid... Give a yell if you're going, I'm definitely going, most likely speaking. Any ideas for talks that might be interesting? ...
Ok, despite what the timestamp might say, it’s midnight here in CT. A late end to a long day. It started around 530 AM when I got in my car and headed to Iselin New Jersey. Many hours and many miles later, I do declare the day to be another success for Don, Scott and Peter, as well as all who attended and presented. I did 2 talks VB2005 for VB6ers and Meet Visual Web Developer Express. Although the ‘intro’ sessions weren’t as popular as they were at the last Boston Code Camp, those who *did* attend...

There's an excellent whitepaper released by Microsoft on the practice of running with LUA in Windows XP. I try to be as security conscientious as I can, and I started running as 'user' for my day to day tasks after a New England Code Camp with Robert Hurlbut. It makes a lot of sense on so many different levels. For those not familiar with LUA, I *strongly* suggest you give the article a read. The basic gist of LUA is to use an account with the least privileges as possible for your day to day computing....
Hey Everybody, I am giving a talk or two on VB6 Migration to Visual Vasic 2005 looking to touch on how / why to upgrade existing apps, developer skill set changes, language changes and enhancements and planning the overall move. I'll have some PPT and actual code. If anyone has anything they might like covered, let me know. I'll be doing the talk for the next New Englang Code Camp (5) whenever it is, but would be glad to share materials or information with folks from other areas that might want to...

I caught a ton of awesome sessions, made some new friends, visited with some old friends and left my wife and 10 week old son at the Westin...
Looks like Code Camp 4 (the original one baby!) is coming together well. Thom has the work in progress version of the agenda up on his site. Code Camp 4 will be held on Sept 24th and 25th at the Microsoft office in Waltham, MA. I think we should all petition that the governor of MA officially change Waltham’s tagline to Waltham, MA: home of the original Code Camp and the best developer community in the WORLD! I’ll have a petition ready that weekend for everyone to sign : ) Check out the...
