Chris G. Williams Beware: I mix tech and personal interests here.
Those of you that know me, know I'm not a treehugger at all. In fact, I'm the guy that thinks it would be cool if our planet was a little more like Coruscant (just one big city, covering the entire planet. Who needs trees and stuff?)

But... I've been using freecycle for a few years now, and it's pretty cool. If you haven't heard of freecycle.org, you owe it to yourself to check it out.

The concept is pretty simple. You have stuff you no longer need or want. I have stuff I no longer need or want. Same goes for numerous other people. Instead of throwing it all away and having it end up in a landfill, put it on freecycle and someone else might need it.

If you find yourself in need of something, you can list that too (within reason) and sometimes you might get lucky.

Everything is broken down by regions, so you aren't going to have to dig through listings in other parts of the country, or even the state in some cases.

As an example, I recently saw a listing for a printer that was similar to mine and it mentioned having ink cartridges. Both printers used the same exact ink cartridges, so I figured I could use a second printer (if it worked) and swap out any decent ink cartridges with my main printer. So I dropped a line, and got directions.

Once I got the printer home, I realized pretty quickly there was nothing wrong with it, all the ink cartridges were full in the printer and there was an unopened pack of color cartridges in the bag too. Even if the printer had been junk, the ink score easily saved me $40+.

Anyway, if you haven't already... I encourage you to check out freecycle.

Freecycle is good stuff. We've given / received a lot over the years. We're getting ready to move houses... That means listing a bunch of stuff on Freecycle that we don't want to lug around anymore!

I am the administrative assistant at a school for kids with special needs. We are located in Vancouver, BC. We are in desperate need of a new fridge for our kitchen. The one we have has already started one fire and the fridge is really old. We would like to have a newer one, with a larger fridge space. We don't need a huge freezer space.

Thank you
