aka My Birthday!!

I leave tomorrow afternoon and fly (First Class, thank you American Airlines Gold Status: Free Upgrade) to Seattle.

I arrive pretty late Wednesday evening, ready to kick off nearly 96 hours of game coding madness. We've already hit one speedbump (sorry Georgie, next time though, for sure) but we're making the best of it.

(*for those keeping track, this means we are partly without an artist onsite, but we shall persevere.)

The objective is at least one complete level of a sidescrolling platformer. To our advantage, we plan to use XNA (of course), TorqueX and the Platformer Starter Kit. I've got some basic ideas in mind and a rough plan on how to get there.

In case you're wondering who the 3rd person is, other than myself and Jason, it's none other than Andy Dunn. The ZMan has graciously agreed to sit back, drink heavily, mock frequently and occasionally write some code... for a couple days at least, then he's off to Disneyland or something like that.

Sunday, to celebrate my birthday, we'll drink some more, eat some more, code some more and raise a glass to fallen comrades (sorry Georgie, Andy) and continue forth on our sidescrolling deathmarch. It's Code Til You Drop, Last Man Standing, Cross Country Endurance Coding!!

By late late Monday night, we should have a playable (and winnable) game with at least one level, hopefully more.

We shall see.

Then I fly back on Tuesday and it's back to work on Wednesday. Woohoo.

*For those of you who remember last year, this is different. We have less people, but we also have a plan. And I have permission to whup Jason's butt if he starts talking about "making a framework first" again...
