For the next couple months (except on most weekends) I'll be putting my boots up in Irving, TX. That's near Dallas (also Texas) in case you were wondering.
(I don't actually own any boots, mind you, except for some old steeltoe boots and you wouldn't want me putting those up anywhere, trust me.)
What, you ask, could I possibly be doing in TX? Well, as I mentioned, I'm here for a 2 month (actually 9 week) engagement at a client. I can't really go into much detail other than to say its a CSLA 2.0 gig and we're rewriting an existing app to take advantage of their existing CSLA Framework.
Enough about work. It's nice here. The weather is very mild (at the moment) and sitting around 66 - 70 degrees. The office is a 4 minute walk from the apartment. Speaking of the apartment... it's pretty nice. The complex is locked down pretty tight and you can't get anywhere without a special keythingy, but once you're in it's pretty swank. Nice gym, wifi/coffee bar, theatre (yeah... theatre!), business center, gameroom, etc... I could definitely love travelling if it was always like this (which, for the record, it's not.)
I'll be pulling 4-10s pretty much every week but this one, which means I'll be flying in Sunday night and flying back home Thursday night for the next 9 weeks. It's about a 2.5 hour ride on a direct flight. No first class or even business class, it's basically a sardine can with wings (3 seats per row, no joke). No room for a laptop or serious work, so I'll probably sleep each way.
All this free time in the evenings should give me the opportunity to get caught up on a few of my projects, like HA! among other things. Not one to sit still, I've also taken on a new project that I can't really talk about at the moment. More on that later.
