Chris G. Williams Beware: I mix tech and personal interests here.

Ok so we have these email lists at work and I sorta fell into the middle of a conversation and learned that The Doors toured recently (without Jim Morrison, naturally) and after a brief moment of silence I started thinking about other bands that have committed (or attempted to commit) lead singer sacrilege. Does this ever turn out well?

It's kinda like Pink Floyd without Roger Waters, The Misfits without Glenn, Queen without Freddy Mercury, Rage Against the Machine without Zach. It's not the same, it's (typically) not as good and, I dunno... it's just not right.

Ahh, I can hear you say, “but what about bands that actually improved after changing singers??”  Hmm, like who? Van Halen? Ok, sure Sammy was good, but better than Diamond Dave? hmmm I dunno.  AC/DC?  Ok yeah, no question there but Brian Johnson has been a part of things so long it's easy to forget about... uhh... what was his name?  Oh and how about Skid Row? (Sorry, I've been watching SuperBand on VH1... did you know Sebastian Bach *snicker* wasn't the bands original singer?)

As one guy pointed out, it's like Captain Kangeroo without Mr. Greenjeans. You can watch it, you might even enjoy it, but you know it's not right.

I hope you are kidding about the AC/DC thing....

The Supergroup thing has been busting Sheri and me up ever since we discovered it. Since my band plays that stuff, it's especially funny. You know, Bach is arrogant and such, but ye gods what a voice.

BTW, you'll be happy to know I am trying to get "Die, Die, Die my Darling" on the setlist, and "I wanna be sedated" also.....

yeah I was half-kidding about Bonn Scott, although I like Brian Johnson too. SuperGroup is hilarious but my god... the ego on Bach is uncanny. You get Die Die My Darling on the setlist and I'll come see you play. That's a promise. Did you know the Misfits played Charlotte last Friday?

I used to be one of the Diamond Dave faithful until I saw a video of VH at the US Festival in 1983. Paid one million dollars for the show and Dave was so drunk that he made a fool of himself. He even picked a fight with some guy in the audience.
