Work work work and work

“If you're in the software industry and you recognize this story, remember this: your employer doesn't own you nor is it your fault some project is late on schedule (there are people responsible for that, you just write software).

You work to live, you don't live to work.

Recent post by Frans Bouma was about "Evil Employers". A shocking story by one employee of EA company (developed the PC game SIMS) about employee abuse.

I may sound rude but those guys working in EA are still fortunate even though their being abused. This is because they have the power to sue the company anytime they want and have their taste of justice. In 3rd world countries like Philippines, a lot of people here are being abused by big companies. May it be local or multinational. The thing is, employees here are afraid to voice out or complain because of job shortage. One might lost their job the next day if they complain. A lot of employees here "live to work". I am not making this up. I was one of the victims before I joined my current company. 7:30am to 1:00am work?! Come on! And though I have overtime pay, I'd rather choose my health over money.
