Regardless of your view on conflict around the world and the military-industrial complex, please take time to thank a veteran (or ten) for their service.
I was watching the Army / Rutgers game and chatting with a friend who is a fan of the Big East. As such, my friend was rooting for Rutgers. Now I'm a Navy fan AND a fan of WVU (and the Big East) too. However, I was rooting for Army. My friend asked why. I replied that the Army seniors are going to graduate and go to war and possibly die so I figure the least I could do is hope they get to win a football game or ten before they graduate.
If, after thanking a veteran, you are frustrated / in disagreement with the war in Iraq or another conflict around the world...take time to contact your representative. But please, don't take it out on the active service people and veterans. They don't choose the conflicts.
If you don't know a veteran, please pop over to my buddy Chris Williams' blog (http://geekswithblogs.net/cwilliams/) and give him a "Thanks!". He's a Navy veteran and just general great-guy-at-large. Is Army more your thing? Then pay a "Thanks!" to my friend Brian Johnston (http://geekswithblogs.net/brian.johnston.blog/Default.aspx). He's an Army veteran and just general great-guy-at-large too. So here's to you,
- Chris Williams
- Brian Johnston
- Kyle Farmer, Bronze Star of Valor
- Hobart Carder, Silver Star of Gallantry
- and all the other veterans and active military service personnel (and law enforcement and safety professionals)...
THANK YOU!
