My Articles

I've been saying it for so long now that I suppose I should blog it in case it comes true.  Ever since Microsoft have been under the magnifying glass of lawsuits, starting many years ago, they seem to be positioning themselves to split the companies.

Specifically, it appears that they are positioning the products to be supported by two distinct companies.  Basically, there is the “Office” side and the “Platform” side.  This is, of course, not a complete picture as many other products exist.  Imagine, if you will, a world wherein Office and related products have a cost associated with them.  Imagine the same world with an operating system and development tools which are free (dare I say open source) or are associated with a maintenance fee.

So basically, I just want to go on record with this in case something ever comes of it.  And if nothing comes of it, no one will remember anyway!

I think that's a good use of blogs: as quasi-legal / more for bragging rights, "I told you so"'s to the world.
