Many thanks to my home dawg Heavy-E!  My boy hooked a brutha up wid Season 1 of the hit show Lost.  WOW!  What a great show.  Not since the new Battlestar Galactica have I been so impressed with a new show.  If you aren't watching it, you should at least give it a chance.  I think you will enjoy it.  Imagine M. Night Shyamalan meets Ron Moore meets Agatha Christie.

It doesn't focus on survival issues such as finding food and water.  Instead, these are setting and backdrop to the story.  The show focuses on character interaction and conflict.  The writers are excellent at combining the various factors of the general underlying plot line, the back stories, and the current, more immediate issues.  Not only that, but the back stories are told and woven to provide not only additional insight into the characters but also into the general plot.

The story itself contains elements of many other genres.  It is pretty-much always a drama.  However, it is also mystery, science fiction/fantasy, horror, and action/adventure.  While the writing includes many of these elements, often simultaneously, it doesn't focus on one or another too much.  Instead, it uses them to develop and enhance the character development and story telling experiences.

The acting is truly superb.  The characters are engaging and entertaining.  The actors seem to embody their characters.  They are consistent and stay within character throughout the various aspects of the show including both the current and back stories.  And, just for the record, I have fallen head-over-heels for Evangeline Lilly.  Yeah, there are really attractive people on the show.

Do you watch Lost?  If so, let me know what you think.  If not, give a try.

I got hooked on Lost about 1/2 way through the first season, but I must say that I have been really disappointed in the second season...the eposides seem less intense, and the story seems to have lost much of its speed.

To me its one of those shows that they did not expect to last more than a season, then after it became a hit, they had to figure out a way to extend the show (kind of like the Matrix movies...)

That's disappointing. I am hoping that ABC runs season 2 from the beginning again so I can get caught up. I'll definitely let you know what I think.

I do agree that this storyline is certainly short-lived. I can see 3 seasons being a nice, comfortable number. They might be able to eke a 4th out of it but that would be tough. Beyond that, I think it would just get irritating. This is the kind of storyline that needs closure in a few seasons I think.

Thanks for the feedback!
