Microsoft and the Year-Named Products

I don't understand why Microsoft continually use years for their product names.  It seems to always get them into some kind of trouble. So, I complain about this and what do they do?  They create “Vista”!  ARRRGGHHH!  So now I'm torn...year-oriented names or bad product names????  Tough choice.

Visual Studio .NET 2005 - Is it worth all the hype?

Don't get me wrong, I am a Microsoft fan. But it seems to me that they are really hyping the latest version of the Visual Studio family (and the .NET Framework 2.0) when all of the “hyped” additions are things we in the development community have been doing for years.
