The Fires of Passion

There are fires raging across California right now. So many people being evacuated, so many lives changing and being changed by this horrible tragedy. My heart goes out to all those being impacted. However, while I feel sympathy and compassion for those involved, my heart does more than cry a little for one woman. You see, while the fires in California burn hot, the flames of passion in my heart for this one woman have become a raging inferno that no shirtless fireman can quench.

I've known this woman for a quite a while now. (She has a "thing" for my wife). But she and I have never been more than casual acquaintances. Tagging each other here and there with blogging challenges. She leaves the occasional comment on my blog reminding me that I have at least one reader. And she keeps my wife "entertained" so I can pursue my hobbies. So I've always felt a little something for her and she's been a big part of my life.

It always takes a tragedy to really make you realize just HOW much you feel for that one person. I'm almost scared to share this story because this, being a geek community and all, I'm afraid you ALL might fall for this incredible (and unfortunately married...for now) woman. But you know how it is, when your heart beats so fast you just have to yell from the rooftops from the top of your lungs how you feel (or blog loudly into the series of tubes as well as you can)

You see, she lives right smack dab in California. Her family has had to leave their home. Her life is stressful and chaotic. She's dealing amazingly, stupendously well with all of this. That bravery and determination to keep her family safe and do whatever that takes might in itself be enough to justify intense feelings for such a woman. But my friends, there's more.

While reading her compelling tale of being a mom and having to be strong in these tough times, one of Cupid's arrow came straight for my heart through her love inspiring words.

She writes....

Monday, 6:30 AM
I've got the three computer towers disconnected and by the front door, but this was no easy task. One of them had not been detached from it's peripherals in ages and the screws that lock the connectors on were locked tight on one. I managed to find a way to disconnect it downstream, but my fingers were raw. I also got his laptop, our wedding album, my laptop and both external hard drives.

Oh my. Be still my beating heart. Just even reading those words again right now sets my heart a fluttering and I feel weak in the knees all over again. All alone, the fires moving in, evacuation of her home required, she saves the computers. She not only saves the computers, but she saves them at 6:30 AM. One of the first things she grabs and she even grabs the laptop and those hard drives. I can't imagine a more perfect woman. If it wasn't for that dang wedding album, the suitors would be lined up around the block for her. That lucky bastard.

So to the woman of my dreams. My heart is there with you in this tragedy. I've been impressed and amazed at just how wonderfully you're dealing with all of this. You and your family will be in my family's thoughts and we're hoping for the best that your situation just continues to improve and you will remain one of the lucky ones that will be able to go back to your homes and work. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and emotions as you deal with this. You're a wonderful example for mom's (and wives) everywhere.

Hope I managed to make you smile.

Dude! This totally made my day. Seriously, I was laughing out loud for the first time in days! Thanks so much for the lift. And yes, sadly I'm taken, but my heart still beats for Shawna... And the 6 boys we will have between us.
