One Reason to have a Facebook Identity
Reading this article http://www.nytimes.com/2010... It’s clear that ensuring you “grab” your online “address” (Facebook page) and establish it as authoritative, before some other clown does is important. Once you have your kids (yourself) online, then you monitor. Best you take the slot before somebody else does… ......

The “Jersey Doesn't Stink” website – does it really need a site?

I have to admit, been in Jersey all my life – and yes, it does stink – but probably no more than any other state.  Grass isn’t always greener – and yes, we do have grass in NJ.

The fallacies of all these Studies Linking one thing to another…
Are pesticides really the link? Or is it hereditary? Pesticides in kids linked to ADHD http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id... You’ve got to think this one through. If the parents already have ADHD, and they buy fruits, don’t have the “patience” to wash the fruit, and the kids end up with larger detectible amounts of pesticides in their bodies – are the pesticides really the cause or is it hereditary? I say, switch the kids around for the real test – sure, let the kids ......

Learning another language…

We’ve been bombarded by Rosetta Stone commercials, magazine adds, and airport kiosks.

I can’t say I picked up much from High School Spanish – in fact, mostly picked it up pickin peaches on a farm.

Here’s a place you can get your feet wet for free…

I’m with COCO….

Definitely a surprise to hear that NBC would even consider all the late night shuffle after all the crap he’s had to wait for.  In support of Conan O’Brien…

Tongue in Cheek Geek Humor from the PDC
An old colleague (Biff Gaut) of mine has a great daily newsletter from the PDC. This is certainly targeted for those of us looking for a “light” look at all things new that come out of PDC, but at times very technical with a perspective from someone who has been in the industry for some time (20+ years), started off as a C or C++ developer (not sure how early as I started with C/ASM). But, as always, with the technical content comes the sometimes dry, humor that only Biff can interweave into the ......

Well, already messed up National Shutdown Day...
I had heard on the radio a short blurb about "National Shutdown Day" being Saturday May 3rd (today). Only problem is I didn't hear about what we were shutting down. I had initially thought it was something like "National Lights Out day" (which I also missed). So, today, I light up my computer and do a Live search on what it's all about. Well, I blew it. It's about turning off your computer for 1 day - as I'm reading that on my turned on computer (haven't figure out how to use it w/ out the power ......

DirecTV HDPC-20 Dual USB Tuner Shakes Hand with Vista
Finally, I can get my DirecTV signal down to Media Center without a whole bunch of crap. I've been waiting for DirecTV's MC compatible capability for some time, this finally looks like I can get TiVo like function well integrated with MC. Using TiVo now, but resistant to moving to the DirecTV DVR as it's interface just plain stinks. DirecTV HDPC-20 Dual USB Tuner Shakes Hand with Vista ......
