Josh Ledgard (and apparently everyone else BUT me), is excited about the new MSDN Forums Beta. Unless they’re planning on adding an RSS feed (and I don’t see any indication of that), count me out.
Why? Simple. I do everything in Outlook. I use NewsGator for my RSS Aggregator. It also can be an NNTP newsreader, but I don’t like how it formats my messages, and it’s awkward to post to NNTP newsgroups with it. Also, since I use it to post to my blog, and it can only handle one posting plug-in, NNTP is out of the question anyway. So, you think you’ve caught me, right? I must use OE to read me news? Nope. There are plenty of NNTP Add-ins for Outlook these days. I heartily recommend two of them, NewsLook and NewsHound. I wasn’t very impressed with the 1.x releases of NewsHound, but am much more impressed with 2.0. NewsLook has always been stable for me. I don’t think you can go wrong with either.
So, anyway, I open up Outlook first thing in the morning, and I leave it open all day long. The things that I want to see (and some spam) come to me. I don’t go to them. If I have to go to a news source outside of Outlook, I won’t go. Sorry, Josh.
Oh, I realize I haven’t posted here in a while and lots of people have left comments on various posts. I haven’t responded to those either. I hope to get caught up soon. Was switching projects and dealing with a lot of personal stuff, and fell behind. I’m up for air now and will start posting again.
UPDATE: scoob points out that I'm blind. There ARE RSS feeds for every forum. I'll shut up now. Thanks, Mr. Ledgard. :)
