Interesting situation going on with Robert Scoble and the whole China/MSN situation…

I personally think the very notion of freedom in speech is typified in blogging.  The fact that MSN is even there opens doors to the freedoms too many of us Americans take for granted.  My reply to him was…

You have a unique position in the blog world, Robert. Nobody can truly understand how many influences, pressures, and other inputs you receive on a daily basis. After having met you, I know you write what you believe at the time you write it. You have all the freedom in the world to change your beliefs - and in fact, that is really what this issue is all about. We've all blogged things we would have rather stated other ways, but this transparency into our thoughts at the time of writing is one of the best attributes of blogging there is and why it is such a powerful medium. You're doing a great job in elevating awareness to this form of communication and regardless of what perspective you initiate or recant, your words have power and we're all tuned in. Thanks for your great contributions.

I certainly encourage the rest of you with strong feelings to post your comments – regardless of your position…
