Ok, this is pretty crazy stuff.  I admit, I didn’t come anywhere near watching the whole thing, but it was pretty cool to see someone took the time to do something pretty creative like this…

telnet:towel.blinkenlights.nl

(Yeah, clicking the link above only works for Windows folks…all others will need to open a Telnet session and type it in manually)

everybody has something they love, as long as they are devoted to it and it was fun for them why would you make bad comments?

*thumbs up* Awesome work.

The really talented guy who did this is Simon Jansen.

I wasn't aware that cartoons like these can be made using simple letters, symbols and numbers.

This guy deserves an award :D

"get a life" comment says nothing about the artist and everything about the person who made that comment. I suspect he/she needs one him/herself.

I have never seen anything like this. I never imagined that someone could actually do anything like this. This is amazing in so many ways... very, very cool job.

Nolife, indeed
But it's fun!

# re: ASCII version of Star Wars via Telnet... 2/11/2008 10:29 AM Gabe
VERY cool. Just like the old BBS days. I find it interesting that some folks on here say they have never seen anything so creative, etc. Back in the days of the BBS you'd be amazed at the artwork people came up with using only ascii.

The life of a programmer is one less lived - just as the road less traveled.

Nicely done!

# re: ASCII version of Star Wars via Telnet... 9/19/2009 9:20 PM MrSchism
This is epic. It's nice to see people still leaving space for stuff like this in the caves of the internet. Sadly, they didn't use the greatest potential of ASCII characters.

dyne.org has the hasciicam project where you can stream video in ASCII, and VLC player has the option to view videos in colored ASCII.

# re: ASCII version of Star Wars via Telnet... 10/16/2009 12:37 AM Issy
That's amazing. Great job!

Uh.. I think its funny the amount of people spamming this with "Get a life." Take a look in the mirror, and follow your own damned advice.

Great job. (:
