OK. It's about a week later, but I wanted to be sure to go on record about DevLink in Nashville. John Kellar and team put on a great show. Let me explain:
It started with the speaker dinner on Thursday night. The food was great but the dessert was better. What floored me most was the HANDWRITTEN thank you note! It goes a long way to not just get another email that says "thanks" and you are just one of many that have been CC'd. If the DevLink team makes one thing a tradition--keep the thank you note personal.
The logistics worked quite well. I felt bad at times for the DevLink team because people would show up 15 minutes before anything was scheduled and were complaining that the coffee wasn't out yet. My comment to the complainers--if it's that important to have your Joe, stop at Starbucks before you get there.
The rooms were large enough for everyone. The keynote was the only thing that I noticed people standing--some by choice after we "defragged" the seating.
Friday night, we had a great time unwinding with Comedian Rik Roberts. He was quite humorous and I enjoyed his two songs--"Guy, Guy, I'm just a Guy" and one other one about not being a woman (and all that entails). I'd love to get a recording of those two just for kicks.
Thanks again John Kellar, John and LeAnna Baker, Chris Gundersen and Darrin Isbell for working so hard to pull this together. Maybe we'll see you again next year!
