US Navy ready to take down 5000 lb satellite

The Navy has everything in order to take down this satellite which is the size of a bus that is loaded with 1000 pounds of toxic rocket fuel aboard. They are waiting for good weather and have issued a no fly zone west of Hawaii to prepare. The odds of it hitting a populated area are only about 1%.

This is an expensive venture but what else can they do when this satellite went bad after it launched in 2006.

China and Russia are concerned that the US is using this as an excuse that this is just a missile test.

According to CNN, a 200 member Navy team of scientists and engineers have been working since January to plan this take down.

Hopefully, they will hit it in one shot but not likely because of the precise accuracy required to get the job done.

Let's wish them luck on this!

That satellite is moving at something like 8X the speed of sound. If we nail it on the first shot, I will personally buy you a beer at the MVP summit.
