Any Silverlight pros out there?

I am trying to explore how I can expose my high school students to silverlight but I'm not sure what direction would be the easiest for them.

For example, I realize that there are several versions of silverlight available at this time and that there are several ways to create applications with silverlight. JavaScript, Expression Blend and now the .NET Framework.

What I don't know is what direction I should go so now I'm asking the experts. What should I be looking at and where can I go to learn.

Thanks for your help.

I would suggest contacting Jeff Prosise, co-founder of Wintellect. He is a leading expert on Silverlight and the .NET Framework and would be happy to point you in a direction.

You can contact him through his blog: http://www.wintellect.com/cs/blogs/jprosise/default.aspx

Hope this helps,

Joshua

Hi Brian,

I gathered quite some Silverlight experience lately, and I am working on a book for beginners (aimed at Silverlight 2.0).

My recommendation is to target Silverlight 1.0 for tutorials for the moment. Silverlight 2.0 is very incomplete in the moment. At MIX08 (beginning of March), we will (probably) see a new CTP with so many improvements that anything written before will need a serious overhaul anyway.

Silverlight 1.0 is pretty cool and is a great introduction to XAML, JavaScript and even Silverlight 2.0.

Contact me if you want to discuss this once, we can also talk on Skype or MSN if you like (see my contact page on my website).

Greetings,
Laurent

I agree with Laurent on sticking with 1.0 for now.

Two sets of video tutorials that may be useful in getting started include Mike Harsh (http://movielibrary.lynda.com/html/modPage.asp?ID=473) and Michael Palermo's videos (http://weblogs.asp.net/palermo4/archive/tags/silverlight/default.aspx)
