My Blog Friends

On Tues Nov 13 2007 we will be launching the San Diego .NET User Group's Connected Systems SIG, which is loosely affiliated with the also-launching Connected Systems groups in LA and Irvine.

I've been wanting to do this for a while, but the demand wasn't quite there in this area. Now it is. I think this will turn into a great learning/networking resource for architects and developers involved with Microsoft's Connected Systems technologies.

I've voluteered to help lead this SIG, and I'm doing the inaugural presentation. I hope to see you there!

 Announcement

First Connected Systems SIG Meeting Tuesday

We are pleased to announce the launch of the Connected Systems Special Interest Group of the San Diego .NET User Group.

The Connected Systems SIG (Special Interest Group) of the San Diego .NET User Group will focus on the technologies from Microsoft's Connected Systems Division. This includes BizTalk Server 2006 R2, Windows Communications Foundation (WCF), Windows Workflow Foundation (WF) and Host Integration Server.  These technologies are the foundation of a Services-Oriented Infrastructure. In the future, we will also be covering Microsoft’s newly announced Oslo project (http://geekswithblogs.net/bloesgen/archive/2007/10/30/116471.aspx) as that technology emerges.

Please join us at our meetings to learn what these technologies can do, how to apply them, and the value they add to the Microsoft stack.

Our launch meeting will be Tuesday Nov 13th. We'll be meeting at the Microsoft La Jolla office. Pizza will be available at 6:00 PM, and the meeting will start at 6:30.

Topic for this month:

As this is our launch meeting, we will start off with an overview of BizTalk Server 2006 R2. BizTalk is a cornerstone of Microsoft's service-oriented architecture offerings, providing a message-based integration platform as well as a process automation platform.

For this meeting, we will look at the architecture of the product stack, and the suite of tools it makes available to developers. We will discuss real-world solutions, development and deployment methodologies, and environment considerations such as high availability and scalability.

By the end of this meeting, attendees will have a good overview knowledge of the capabilities BizTalk provides for .NET developers, and the new options they have for developing powerful message-based solutions.

Great presentation Brian! It was the perfect depth for a technology overview. Can't wait for more in-depth presentations as I progress in learning this technology.
