Surgery to replace steroids?

The March issue of Wired has an interesting article speculating on the future use of elective surgery as a way to enhance performance for athletes. One example would be a baseball pitcher having Tommy John surgery before they actually have an injury. Interesting read given the current noise regarding steroids.

Golfing in December

While my golf game is never anything to brag about, the fact that I was able to play 36 holes on December 5th in Kansas with only a light jacket seemed blog worthy. Tomahawk Golf Course is still in great shape. It was a beautiful day and seeing the deer, turkey and hawks made up for my pitiful swing.

As everyone knows by now, the Red Sox finally did it. As a transplanted member of the Red Sox nation, living in Kansas City, I want to thank the Royals management. In the previous two years, I had a partial season ticket (20 some odd games) to the Royals. Two years ago, the Royals were terrible (almost as bad as this year). Then last year they had a good year. This prompted the management to hike the ticket prices by over 30%. This led me to purchase the MLB extra innings cable tv package rather than renewing my tickets. As a result, I watched almost every Red Sox game this season.

So, thank you K.C. Royals management, for being a bunch of greedy bastards and helping me enjoy a wonderful baseball season.

P.S. - thanks for being dumb enough for letting Johnny Damon leave.

Last night the Red Sox won the ALCS in one, if not the, best playoff series ever. One more step to go, tonight's final in the National League should be a good one. I have said from the beginning that we didn't need A-Rod, and he showed he belongs with the Empire with his cheating glove swatting and then lying about it.
