Tutorial: Create Custom External Services in Azure AppFabric June CTP
Introduction One of the first things I wanted to do after installing the Azure AppFabric June CTP was to create an AppFabric application that used the Bing Map SOAP services. That was when I hit my first roadblock. There is currently no option in the AppFabric Application Designer to add a reference to an external service. After asking around in the forums I learned that I should build an external service to do this. There is currently very little documentation on creating external services for Azure ......

Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 Flowchart Workflow Designer Video
I’ve just posted the second in a series of webcasts looking at Workflow Foundation 4.0 in Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2. This time the flowchart workflow designer takes centre stage, and I use it to build a basic workflow for the flight check-in process at an airport. I also make a few calls to a WCF service from the workflow using the new messaging activities, I’m going to focus on those next and hopefully get another webcast out very soon. Stay tuned... The webcast is here ......

Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 Workflow Designer Webcast
As the public launch of Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 is probably old news in the BlogSphere by now, I thought I’d try and get an early webcast out. I spent about an hour playing with the new Workflow Foundation (WF) designer, and have to say it’s looking pretty good. I didn’t think that much of it in the PDC bits or Beta 1, but both the Sequential and Flowchart workflow designers are now very nice to develop with. I’ve not has the chance to look at any complex problems or do any heavy lifting with them, ......

Flowchart Workflow Webcast
I’ve just published the second in a series of WCF/WF 4.0 webcasts on BloggersGuides.net. The second webcasts looks at the Flowchart workflow designer, and how it can be used to implement a simple electronic flight check in scenario. I found the Flowchart workflow designer very easy and intuitive to work with, the flight check in workflow was the first flowchart workflow I have built, and it only took about 15 minutes to get it running. The flowchart designer has improved considerably since the PDC ......

PDC-08 CSD Bits Review Webcast
13:00 Tuesday saw the public availability of the virtual image congaing the “Bits” from the Microsoft Connected Systems Division (CSD). The image contains early builds of a lot of the technology that is being demoed at the PDC, and also a set of hands-on labs that will walk you through some examples of using the technology. The “Oslo PDC-08 CSD Bits Review” webcast will take a quick tour of what is available, and give you some tips on learning about all the new goodies. The main components that are ......

The Bloggers Guide to Oslo and Connected Systems V0.2
It’s been a very busy week in terms of announcements. “Dublin” has been announced, and Darren Jefford probably has the best summary of what Dublin is and how it will affect us. Channel 9 has published some great webcasts looking at Visual Studio 2010 and the testing and UML features included in the new release. I like working with UML, but it’s not had that much exposure on the .net platform. I fought hard with Rational XDE for Visual Studio.net for a few days back in the day, and have also dabbled ......
