After setting up my Dell PowerEdge 2900 with Windows Server 2008 x64 and Hyper-V, I began the steps of creating virtual environments for things I work on. I already had a virtual SQL Server 2005 which was underutilized - 768 MB allocated RAM and one processor for my various development projects. I wanted to set up Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) as a "mostly" single server install with the exception that I wanted to use the existing SQL Server 2005 installation instead of the embedded...

I like this series of books (SPTK - Self-Paced Training Kit) because the short theory here is always ended with real world examples. And these examples shows how the product is used in the real situations, to solve...
The GWB Staff is here! We arrived at the HDC Omaha this morning after a few hours in the car. The trip was fun, but trying to take photos of the leaves changing wasn’t going to happen with the down pour we drove through the whole way. Joe Olsen, founder of Phenomblue, was gracious enough to give us a personal demo of a Microsoft Surface, big o’ table. That thing is freaking cool. If they had a version that was half the price and kid proof, I would definitely be replacing my living room table...
And the official name is… Windows 7. You might be wondering how this is news, but really Windows 7 has been the codename up until Monday when Mike Nash announced that it would be the official name as well. The idea is that Windows 7 will continue on from where Vista left off, but to go back to version numbers instead of years and other off the wall randomness to highlight aspiration. Mike gives the rundown on why the name was decided on his blog, here: http://windowsvistablog.com/blogs/windowsvista/archive/2008/10/13/introducing-windows-7.aspx...

Applying Custom Visual Design to a MOSS Website Using Master Pages and CSS
This 10-part instructional series assumes that the trainee is proficient in HTML, CSS, and .NET Master Pages. The trainee should be comfortable working directly with the code (instead of using design view) in various applications.
The base Master Page file, base CSS file, HTML Template example, and supplimentary slides will be available soon. I'll post links on this blog once they are available. In the meantime, here...
Thanks for visiting my blog. I am currently the Senior Production Artist at e.magination in Baltimore, MD.
When we started working on MOSS websites in 2007, many of our clients wanted to use MOSS for its CMS capabilities in their branded websites. We had to figure out how to make a MOSS website look like our client's website design, which in every case looked nothing like the default MOSS or SharePoint design!
Over the course of 2007 we came up with a base Master Page to use in MOSS, which...
Quite a while ago I posted a walkthrough of installing BizTalk Server on a multi server environment using Virtual PC. Since then I have been involved with the development and delivery of the QuickLearn BizTalk Server Administrators course, a 5 day course covering in detail the many aspects of installing and managing a multi server environment.
I thought it would be a good idea to post a webcast on BloggersGuides.net that would run through the process. It probably takes about a day to run through...
Hi there,
How do you mock an asynchronous web method (web service) call? You can skip the background and move on directly to the solution...
Background:
Visual Studio 2005
CAB/SCSF May 2007
C# 2.0
Rhino Mocks (version 3.5 for 2.0)
In a CAB/SCSF project I'm working on, I'm testing a Presenter's method "OnViewReady". In my implementation, this OnViewReady does basically 2 things:
Tells the View to Show a "Loading..." message to the user
Issues an asynchronous...
It's been a crazy month at work, what with losing personnel and "accelerated timelines" (read as: director sucking up to IT VP). As a result, I've not had much time for anything 'sides work and working out. The former is a bummer but the latter rocks! The one other thing I've managed to have time to do is watch some TV on DVD. Sheri and I have started (as I've mentioned previously) watching some of the Sci-Fi shows about which most everyone else seems to rave. Most recently, we've tried Heroes....

When consuming a WCF Service in BizTalk, I came across the error: The action is invalid or unrecognized.
The reason was that when I created the logical Request/Response port for the service in the orchestration, I used a new port type.
When generating the files for consuming the service, BizTalk had automatically created a Port Type for the Request/Response port. When I used this port type, the error went away...

The Guidance Automation Extensions Toolkit (see GAX Toolkit) gives you this lovely message when you use the "Quick Register" action in your GAX package development. It's true that it can take a while, although it's substantially quicker than the full registration action.
When you're in development though, solutions using your GAX package will read the contents from the project's bin\Debug, so you may not need to re-register between builds at...
