Does anyone really care about the Olympics?

The only thing I really watched was one game of the USA Hockey team. And Ice Dancing was good just because it was so hot.

I am a hockey purist. Sorry, but allowing NHL players to play in the Olympics makes it not much more than a glorified NHL All-Star game. And then hearing players referred to as "there's Erik Cole from New York State", like he was an amateur from college, was completely ridiculous. I like Chris Chelios, but at 44 he was slow. He fell to the ice behind the net on a key play that cost us a goal in the game against Slovakia. Mike Modano is whining about the coaching and leadership here and then he goes home early. Talk about poor sportsmanship!

Regardless of the USA team, including NHL players cheapens the Olympic game. Can a current team getting a gold or silver medal be even compared to the 1980 Miracle USA hockey team, or the Russian team they played against?
