From Murali's professional orkut profile...

Career Skills: It's all about J.
Career Interests: Crossbreeding with MS/dN.

Murali is a pretty close friend of mine and I feel great to know now that he is part of the J2EE 1.5 specs experts group [search for Murali].

I remember him working on VC++, MFC, ATL, DCOM and moving over to Java (and now as he states its all about J) but that necessary doesnt mean he is totally out of touch with .net or MS technologies. For his career interests still loom towards cross breeding with MS/dN -> Microsoft .Net :)

Alan,

well well I have done quite a bit of work and I come from a C,C++, Java, Unix & Linux background. I left the MS platform when I found that its becoming more and more a right click -> Properties dev effort and I was more and more comfy with the notepad, vi environment only to return back with .net when I can always use notepad to write code and there is not much mangling which the IDE/Compiler would do to my code/app!

I still go back and try to catch up with whats going on in the Java world as I always feel that there is so much which as a developer/architect I can get to learn and explore in both technology areas.

Hmm..there are still few guys in this world who want to walk back towards the medieval age of programming :-) If you are not developing software for any company..good otherwise god only can save them from your development time and cost...Learn to rock with new age of tools and development facilities given for you. Don't tell me that you are blogging from a console based application which was developed by you using a notepad ;-) 8/31/2004 3:10 AM | Alan

No Alan, Though its my personal wish to use just the right tools for the job and I do use RAD toolsets when I am writing code for the apps which I deliver to my client. At the end of the day Quality and Time and Cost are important factors for a successfull product.

For that matter I have switched from Notepad to SnippetCompiler!!

I use the .text admin pages to post most of the time :) 8/31/2004 3:31 AM | Teucer
