Andy Johns' Blog Andy's twisted brain....
My morning routine usually involves having breakfast with one or both of my kids (ages 5 and 2.5) while they watch TV and my wife catches those precious last few minutes of sleep. ;)

So weekday mornings as I munch my shredded wheat, I have the background sounds of Magic School Bus and/or Hi-5 and my kids acting and singing along with their shows....

Now for those of you who do not have young kids, MSB is a animated science-y show with no singing. If I can get out of the house before that show ends life is good. However, most mornings I do not and I hear at least part of Hi-5; a real-person singing and dancing and skit-type show....

At any rate, today I'm in the restroom washing my hands and there's another guy washing in the sink next to me. As we finish he looks at me and says. "Hi five."  "Excuse me?" I say, after all hi-fives are usually reserved for a particularly successful moment and if he feels washing his hands or using the potty is one of those moments then he has much too much in common with my 2.5 year old. (Who does do a hi-five after successfully using the potty, but I suspect that will end in a month or two....) So this restroom guy then sings, "So many animals, set them free...." and I realize as he says the words that I have been softly (I hope) humming that same song under my breath for god-knows how long.... It's a song from Hi-5, one they sing every day. Restroom-guy and I laugh then silently exit the men's room....

What is it about kid's shows that the songs are SO catchy.....

If you're interested, or just bored today the actual lyrics of the song can be found here: http://www.hi5america.com/music.html
The song is "So Many Animals" about three scrolls down the page....

I find myself humming things from the Wiggles all the time... "everybody clap, everybody sing, la-la-la la-la" ;-)
