BT has announced a significant firmware update for its PVR and VOD service BT Vision this week. The upgrade begins at 1am on Wednesday 19th and will last for ten hours. This is a comprehensive download and will remove a large percentage of the bugs which have bedeviled the system since its launch.

This is the second firmware update By BT in a mater of weeks. The telco previously added a ‘padding’ option to user recordings, allowing viewers to extend a preset recording time to prevent the conclusions of programmes being unceremoniously chopped off.

BT states that as a result of the firmware update there will be some parts of the BT Vision service (principally the VOD element and EPG) that will be affected just prior to, and during the upgrade.

In a statement, the company says that “The improvements to BT Vision that are being implemented during this time are crucial and will result in a better viewing experience.”

Update seems to provide greater responsiveness when using the remote control, when browsing the online content/features.

Do you,BT Vision automatically let me know about updates? Do I have to update myself or do you do it automatically over the net? Have you got a system to show the Build Standard of my system....I haven't heard from you since you installed...except for your magazine.

Thank you
