Money:

I recently read that Firefox has made its ‘owners’ $76 million in the last year. Not bad for a piece of free software! So how do they do it?

The answer is simple…. everytime we use the search window so neatly supplied, and we use google and we actually go on to buy something google pays Firefox 80% of the click through value!

Wonder if Microsoft have a similar deal with IE 7 and the Google search!

I agree. There is no need to hate because I am sure they worked like crazy to get where they are at. Congrats to them. Firefox is quite a good browser.

Jim, stop being an idiot... go use IE... Firefox took a lot of work. Others like Netscape withered & died... And I am glad I have Firefox for free.

Great way to make money! I was wondering, is it sufficient to keep Mozilla running given that they have some many other free products with out any search box.

coldtusker,
Netscape source code was the base for Mozilla Firefox.
or in other words Netscape decided to go public and open-source under Mozilla foundation and Firefox name.
