Amazon's Mechanical Turk Project In 1769, Hungarian nobleman Wolfgang von Kempelen astonished Europe by building a mechanical chess-playing automaton that defeated nearly every opponent it faced. A life-sized wooden mannequin, adorned with a fur-trimmed robe and a turban, Kempelen’s "Turk" was seated behind a cabinet and toured Europe confounding such brilliant challengers as Benjamin Franklin and Napoleon Bonaparte. To persuade skeptical audiences, Kempelen would slide open the cabinet’s doors to ......

Quoting from Ant Drewery: Like its predecessor Windows Mobile 2003, WM 5.0 lacks a wide selection of trusted root certificates installed by default. If you’re using a non-maintream or self-issued certificate you’ll need to do a little extra configuration to get ActiveSync working over the air. With WM 2003 there was a tool to disable certificate checking but it’s not compatible with WM 5.0. Instead follow these instructions: In Internet Explorer go to your Outlook Web Access site and ensure your ......

You can turn a folder into a desktop toolbar by dragging the icon of the desired folder to the edge of the screen. You can then turn it into a floating toolbar by dragging it from the edge of the screen into the middle of the screen.  (It helps if you minimize all application windows first.)

Not PC but loads of fun - look here for blonde joke

Recently added the NETGEAR SC101 Storage central unit. This is a really cheap way of adding network storage to your system. You can get the unit 'sans' disks and add your own or purchase it with what ever size rocks your boat. You can set it up to have two disks per unit or mirror them per unit. One minor niggle though, upgrade firmware straight away as without it the drive run continuously and very hot and it already looks like a toaster… Software/firmware updates are very easy and up to the Netgtear ......

This is a great piece of work by one of my team mates. A must read…. The forthcoming release next year of Visual Studio Foundation Server will include two methodology templates for the next version of MSF (the Microsoft Solution Framework). These are MSF for Agile Software Development (MSF Agile) and MSF for CMMI Process Improvement (MSF4CMMI). Here is an amended version of a report he recently wrote. http://geekswithblogs.net/c... ......

A good friend of mine at Microsoft UK - Simon Hutson @ http://blogs.msdn.com/ukcrm/default.aspx started me on this craze. Blog titles should be song titles!
The trick is to make them relevant as well……

I'm trying

I've been doing a lot of research lately around these two and come to some sort of thoughts about them. There seems to be a huge amount of confusion particularly that Workflow is BPEL and BPEL is Workflow - that’s just not true. For my part I think its best if I give you my definition of BPEL: What is BPEL BPEL standards for Business Process Execution Language. It is an XML standard for defining the composition of Web Services into new services (web services) In some quarters it is seen as one of ......
