Solution: Outlook Problem "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer."
I have just had a fun time with this one! The problem is seen in many Microsoft public newsgroups: When clicking on a hyperlink in an e-mail, I get this Message : "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." I get this message every time that I attempt to use the hyperlink. I am the administrator on this stand alone computer. How do I deactivate this feature so that I activate hyperlinks ? So firstly this is not an Outlook ......

Living with Windows 7: Goodies 2
As previously mentioned I have lived with Beta and RC before arriving at Release. Downside has been the re-builds. The upside and this is Goodie #2 is the ability to use VHD’s mounted as ‘real’ hard drives has been a saviour! I have setup a number of Virtual drives and when I boot in I re-mount them. I have a Data drive (docs and outlook achieve), Software Installs drive (my downloads drive really), Code drive and finally and iTunes drive. Once a week I copy off each VHD to my NAS at home. So when ......

Groove becomes SharePoint Workspace 2010
The next version of Groove is getting a new name; the successor to Microsoft Office Groove 2007 will be SharePoint Workspace 2010. Microsoft claims that this is a natural progression since Groove is to SharePoint like Outlook is to Exchange. SharePoint Workspace 2010 won't just be the same product with a new name: Microsoft plans to add features that make it easier to deploy and manage. At the same time, Microsoft says that SharePoint Workspace will make it easier to access SharePoint content (or ......

Where has all the thinking gone!
As Microsoft readies Windows 2008 for launch coupled with SQL server 2008 launch and the re-launch of Visual Studio 2008 ?? I am left feeling a little uneasy... When Visual Studio 2008 hit the streets it quickly became apparent that it was incompatible with a number of other products not least BizTalk 2006 R2 on recently launched!!! It is now also clear that Microsoft aren't supporting BizTalk 2006 R2 on Windows Serve 2008 either and of course it goes without saying that BizTalk will not support ......

Syncing your Mobbie with Vista
WMDC (Windows Mobile Device Centre), is the new software in Vista that replaces ActiveSync and you cannot even install ActiveSync on Vista. If you installed Vista RC1 and plugged in your Windows Mobile Phone (either Pocket PC or Smart Phone) and expected Outlook to start syncing you would be in for a rude shock. All Vista does is open the device in Explorer so you can browse it and get to explore files - but nothing to sync up. This is because the WMDC bits are not publicly released yet but are being ......

Living with Vista
I’ve had the highs and lows of living with Vista for a week now… Being of the developer breed and allows having an Administer Account I thought for this exercise I’d go with the flow and have a normal account with access to my Administration functions bubbling under…. Most of the time this is great but then there are those times you want to scream. Today has been one of those and its not 8:00 am yet. As always my Outlook mail box is over quota – happens once a week. ......

Office 2007 - Developer Support
I want it all: Office 2007 supports all the technologies that users and developers have used to extend Office with custom code over the years. Maybe most importantly, Office 2007 can run macros embedded in existing Office documents and templates. Because Office 2007, like its predecessors, can run code, it is vulnerable to attacks by malicious code, such as macro viruses. However, Microsoft has taken some steps to tighten the suite's defences: Documents saved in Office 2007's default format cannot ......

The telephone man: More of the same
Quoting from Ant Drewery: Like its predecessor Windows Mobile 2003, WM 5.0 lacks a wide selection of trusted root certificates installed by default. If you’re using a non-maintream or self-issued certificate you’ll need to do a little extra configuration to get ActiveSync working over the air. With WM 2003 there was a tool to disable certificate checking but it’s not compatible with WM 5.0. Instead follow these instructions: In Internet Explorer go to your Outlook Web Access site and ensure your ......
