I'm running 3 monitors with my laptop using MaxiVista
Since I'm working from homw 3/4 of the time now, I needed to straighten out my home 'office' at least a little ... I needed to move the party in there and one of the things killing that was a longish table with two large nice but old-school monitors hooked up to the XP box under the table. I needed to scrunch them over so I could make room for my laptop and the more I thought about it, the more I wanted those two monitors to be hooked up to my development machine: the laptop. Enter MaxiVista. Using ......

OutlookBar on RH sidebar of has Reference links
It's been a while since I mentioned this, but on the Right-hand sidebar of is an 'Outlook Bar' of headings such as 'Code Reference', 'Cheat Sheets', 'WP7', etc. If you click one of the headings, it opens up a list of web links to reference material I've squirreled away. I recently filled out the WP7 and Lightswitch sections with some links. For instance here is what is in the WP7 section right now: Feel free to use that bar as a resource, there's lots of good stuff in there, and if you ......

I can't pass up passing this along even though it's not Silverlight or WP7 or Lightswitch or ... One thing I've been dealing with is the 'Edit top 200' rows thing in SQL Server 2008, and have just been dealing with it for a few weeks since I uninstalled everything else in favor of this full-up. Well, Senthil Kumar has instructions on how to modify that sucker... I didn't even *think* to look around... figured it was baked in... awesome post, Senthil! Fixing Mixed-up Zune Imports of CD Tracks -- and WP7
I know I'm being a little proactive here, since it'll be months before real users have WP7 devices in their hot little hands, but... If you're a Zune or ZuneHD user, you probably already have had this problem, and WP7 folks will as well. The problem happens when you're loading an old CD, or the tracks from an old LP. I have a USB turntable and have been ripping some of my jazz LPs from the 60s and the Zune doesn't know where to find this stuff. In my LP case, the Zune player ends up just shunting ......

Silverlight Cream Top Posted Authors March to August, 2010
In discussion with some folks over the last few days, we have talked about ways to recognize devs that have a large number of posts in Silverlight Cream. Arguably, the results begin a little skewed since I choose what to post, but that’s where we start. As with the ‘Skim’ page, I’m only looking at posts that go into the database, so ‘Shoutouts’ are not aggregated for this count. Another stipulation decided upon was that to be eligible for ranking, the author had to have posted something in at least ......

I'm now using Feedburner
I've made a couple changes today to the SilverlightCream site and to my blog, after a discussion last night with a cohort. I'm displaying (hopefully obviously) an RSS image that now goes out to Feedburner. The big take-away for me for that is that the feed is now displayed as a 'feed' and not as XML. The take-away for you is that you can now subscribe via Feedburner. I also modified the Search Results page at to tell you how many results were returned. And, did you know you can ......
